The Patek Philippe World Time Ref. 5231 was introduced at BaselWorld 2019. It pairs the brand's much admired World Time complication with cloisonné enamel dial center with a new case design. Initially only offered in yellow gold, 2022 saw the addition of the white Gold Ref. 5231G-001.

The company name became Patek Philippe in 1851, and it is under this name that Patek Philippe created the first Swiss wristwatch ever made in 1868.
