IWC Schaffhausen is the Engineer of Watchmaking™. IWC’s watch families – the Pilot’s Watches, Portugieser, Ingenieur, Aquatimer and Portofino – look back on a long tradition. Founded by the American Florentine Ariosto Jones in 1868, the ‘International Watch Company’ was created to combine leading Swiss craftsmanship with advanced American manufacturing technology. Inspired by Jones‘ engineering mindset and transatlantic adventure, IWC focused on precise yet robust instrument watches designed for navigation and later aviation. With more than 85 years of Pilot‘s watch heritage, IWC has become a leader in aviation timekeeping. Today IWC is renowned for ingenious perpetual calendars, precise chronographs, and its leading expertise in performance materials such as titanium and ceramics. IWC watches continue to prove their engineering pedigree in the demanding fields of aviation, human space flight and elite motorsports.
