The Rolex Datejust ref. 1601, a distinguished model in the Rolex lineage, is well-known for its classic design elements including a non-quickset caliber, pie-pan dial, and a fluted bezel in gold. Introduced in 1959, the ref. 1601 builds on the legacy of the Datejust, which first debuted in 1945. Initially launched as the reference 4467, Rolex contemplated various names before ultimately settling on the timeless "Datejust." This name appeared on dials starting in 1953.
