The Patek Philippe 3700/1A was the first Nautilus. It was designed by Gerald Genta and introduced at the Basel fair in 1976. At the time of its introduction, it was one of the most expensive stainless steel watches one could buy. The 3700/1 was available from 1976 to 1982. It was replaced by the 3700/11, which was available from 1982 to 1990. Self-winding movement with date, based on JLC 920 ebauche. A vintage watch is never fully water resistant any longer.

Patek Philippe is the last Family-Owned Independent Genevan Watch Manufacturer. Iconic models are the Nautilus, Aquanaut, Calatrava, Cubitus, Ellipse, Twenty~4 and grand complications. Since 1839 without interruption, Patek Philippe has been perpetuating the tradition of Genevan watchmaking. As the last family-owned independent watch manufacturer in Geneva, it enjoys total creative freedom to entirely design, produce and assemble what experts agree to be the finest timepieces in the world – following the vision of its founders Antoine Norbert de Patek (1839) and Adrien Philippe (1845). The company name became Patek Philippe in 1851, and it is under this name that Patek Philippe created the first Swiss wristwatch ever made in 1868. Thanks to its exceptional know-how, Patek Philippe maintains a tradition of innovation hailed by an impressive repertoire of more than 80 patents.
