With its clean and sober style, the Patek 5196 is a direct descendant of the original ref. 96 Calatrava of 1932. Notable similarities are the simple case style, the markers and the dauphine hands. The size of the 5196 however is a more contemporary 37mm, while it is powered by the traditional hand-wound, small seconds caliber 215 PS. The current version, ref. 5196J-001, has a yellow gold case with a silver dial.
